Who we are

My Garage Portal is run by Garage Portal. We provide the portal software to garages. Questions about your data: admin@garageportal.online. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration number Z1234567.

Garages and customers: who controls the data

Each garage decides which customers and vehicles to add and what to send them. For that customer and vehicle data the garage is the data controller and Garage Portal acts as its processor, storing and delivering the data on the garage's behalf. If you are a customer and want to see, correct or delete your data, please ask your garage first.

What we hold

• Garage accounts: garage name, owner name, email, address and phone, and the plan or subscription status.
• Customers: name, email, phone, a hashed PIN, vehicle registration, make and model, MOT and service dates, bookings, quotes, invoices and messages.
• Notifications: if you switch them on, a push subscription for your device. You can turn this off at any time.
• Technical: a session cookie so you stay signed in, and basic logs to keep the service secure.

Why we use it

To run the portal: sign you in, show your vehicles and documents, send reminders and notifications, and take subscription payments from garages. Our legal basis is performing our contract with garages, and the garage's legitimate interest in serving its customers.

Payments

Garage subscriptions are paid through Stripe. We never see or store card numbers. Stripe's own privacy notice applies to payment details.

Who else sees it

Only the garage you deal with, and our service providers (hosting, email delivery, Stripe, and your browser's push service). We do not sell data or use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

While an account is active. A garage can ask us to delete its account and its customers' data. A customer can ask their garage to remove their details. Invoice records may be kept for as long as the garage needs them for tax purposes.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to have it deleted, and you can object to how it is used. Contact admin@garageportal.online. If you are unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
